"Go Snowman" Fry's First 100 Words Game (Parent Lesson)
The snowmen need your help! They need to find their word matches. Hurry find the most snowman word matches to win.
This printable game allows you to play again and again. There are also five versions of the activity to help your child learn more high frequency words by memory. (Game #1 uses Fry's high frequency words 1 to 20, Game #2 uses Fry's high frequency words 21 to 40, Game #3 uses Fry's high frequency words 41 to 60, Game #4 uses Fry's high frequency words 61 to 80, and Game #5 uses Fry's high frequency words 81 to 100)
Game Play: Start with 3 cards each. Set words that match into a pile. Ask if they have one of your snowman word cards. "Do you have the and snowman?" If yes. Go again. If no. "Go Snowman." Pick a card from the middle. If it matches set it aside. Then the next player goes. Take turns. Once all cards are matched count all your cards. The person with the most cards wins!
Common Core Skill:
Your child will learn how to read high frequency words by sight. These words are words that are common and cannot be sounded out. They will do this all by memory.
